My art comes from the what-ifs and manifests as visible thoughts. Sometimes it is born in the moment of awareness that I had settled too early for old reasons: the this is how it is or always was … and right there I could find an entrance, and curiosity to guide me, to go forward into something not yet known, not yet seen nor experienced, something avoided, forgotten, or accepted in its limits… toward something sleeping, an unborn form, an unthought presence
… I made a book called “Ajar” because I do not like closed doors and I observed a malfunction of a book as an “opening”: if you made the book’s spine narrower than its text block, your book would never want to close...
so “Ajar” does not close because its spine is too narrow, the cover only accommodates itself but expels its content from its well, brings it forward and out into the light… so the pages have never to sit in darkness - I give them agency or I become the page in the process... and in the same book the foredge is not a blade that divides what was, what is and what will be, but is rounded and goes on and is preserved in the “state” of continuation
